Problem
Hedonism is the doctrine that pleasure is the only thing that is intrinsically good and valuable, and that it is therefore the possibility of experiencing pleasure that gives value to life, makes it worth living, and thus refutes nihilism. Robert Nozick presents a thought experiment involving what he refers to as the experience machine, which he thinks refutes hedonism. Explain Nozick's thought experiment briefly, but clearly, and then discuss in detail whether it does in fact refute hedonism.
