Explain Nerve Supply of the Gastrointestinal Tract
The gastrointestinal tract is supplied by nerves from both sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic supply is provided by cranial nerves, the vagus nerve. The sympathetic supply is provided by numerous nerves which emerge from the spinal cord in the thoracic and lumbar regions. There are a few accessory organs which help in digestion. We shall get to know them now.
