The dominant political party in Russia is called United Russia has been in power since 2003. It supported both Vladimir Putin and his appointed successor current President Dmitry Medvedev. It is interesting the former president Putin is now the chairman of United Russia.

Mexico is a multi-party system with eight recognized political party. The traditionally dominant party is the Institutional Revolutionary Party. They continue to be the dominant party at the local and state level. At the national level however, the National Action Party is currently in power.An interesting point of discussion, though not in your original question is how Russia and Mexico are different though they have been dominant party nations in the past. It would seem that Russia's dominant party is consolidating power and achieving a stranglehold on its opponents while Mexico is enjoying more competition among its political parties.
