Explain in detail about Operating Systems (OS)
Operating system (OS) is a program which after being initially loaded into computer by a boot program, manages all the other applications/programs. On a PC, first program which runs is stored on a ROM chip. This program checks system hardware to make sure everything is functioning routinely. This checks CPU, memory and basic I/O systems (bios) for errors. If all is satisfactory, BIOS will activate disk drives. When hard drive is activated, OS is found in boot and is then loaded.
