Use the rhetoric of Tyler Durden (you are to use direct quotes from Fight Club for this essay) to examine, and interpret the specifics of your own life. Tyler says a lot of things. Some of these things may resonate with you personally, or you may see specific examples of what he is talking about in our society, especially as it relates to you. Your goal is to use this rhetoric to better understand your place in our society.
Also, remember, this book was written in 1996. You have the opportunity to explore Tyler's rhetoric from a perspective of somebody in 2015.
However, you will have to do more than simply compare the texts/examples. You must also explain how the various rhetoric's influence social modes of thinking, especially as they pertain to you. Ultimately, you may, or may not agree with his rhetoric. You should be able to come to a conclusion about this by the end of the essay.
