Assignment: Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Directions:
1) Choose from one of the following works of literature: "Compensation," "Walking," or The Narrative of the Life and Adventures of Henry Bibb, an American Slave.
2) Write an essay that analyzes the rhetorical choices (devices) that the author uses to achieve his purpose.
In your essay you should do the following:
1) Conclude your introduction with a thesis that analyzes the writer's rhetorical choices.
2) Select and use evidence to support your line of reasoning.
3) Explain how the evidence supports your line of reasoning.
4) Demonstrate an understanding of the rhetorical situation and the author's purpose.
5) Use appropriate grammar and punctuation in communicating your argument.
