Problem: Chris, a 40-year-old male presents to the ER believing he has kidney stones due to an increased urgency to urinate and pain in the lower back. The physician comes into the room to talk to Chris about his symptoms and notices that Chris looks to be underweight. Chris tells the physician that recently he's been feeling constipated and dehydrated. The physician decided to order some labs for Chris, and they came as high PTH, high Ca2+, and low phosphorus. The physician decides to do some additional testing for Chris and orders him an x-ray of his parathyroid. Upon completion of the x-ray physician finds an adenoma of the parathyroid. 1.
