Select any product consisting of at least 6 different parts. Develop an operational plan to manufacture this product and compile a report about the company.
Use the following as guidelines as to what the report should contain:
A. Name of the organisation; where is it situated? What is the approximate size of the company (number of people)
B. Draw a typical organogram for this company showing where you as Operations Manager fit in the organisation.
C. Discuss what this company offers its customers in terms of goods and services.
D. What type of process does the company employ? Discuss the process in as much detail as you can muster. Also include the type of machines and number of machines used.
E. Explain and Develop an aggregate inventory system for this envisaged company. Very important is to state the roles of different people in the organisation and you as team leader how you will allocate tasks to these people. This is applicable for point E-I. Also show how you will communicate via formal email any one task that a team member must execute.
F. From the Aggregate plan develop a MRP
G. Explain and demonstrate how a Gant chart will assist your scheduling.
H. Explain and show with the aid of calculations if a Kanban system will be viable for your company.
I. Explain and show how you would compile a maintenance plan for your company - include a safety aspect.
J. In which areas in the company do you think an Operations Manager can be of use based on the content of this module? Why and how?
K. Give an example how you will delegate task to team members via official email. Place a copy of this email into the report.
