Assignment: Legal Ethical Implications in Genetics
Instructions:
• After completing the assigned readings, read the case and answer the questions.
• In cooperative work groups they must identify the controversy that exists in the management of this patient.
• Each group must select a different genetic alteration (Examples Huntington, Down Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis, Retinoblastoma, among others).
Select a genetic alteration, imagine that you are offering primary care in a prenatal clinic and you must give the results of the genetic tests that showed said alteration.
• Discuss how you would explain everything related to the genetic alteration to the family.
• What could they expect in the future?
• What ethical-legal implications would be related to this case?
• Base your argument on scientific journals related to this topic (eg J. Gene Med, Medical Genetics, among others.)
• You must react to one of the other cooperative groups by identifying:
o What is the debate or conflicting opinions that you found when answering these three questions?
o You can describe what concepts they agree with, what concepts they disagree with, and what conclusion you reached and why.
Format your assignment according to the give formatting requirements:
• The answer must be using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, and typed, with one-inch margins on all sides.
• The response also includes a cover page containing the student's name, the title of the assignment, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
• Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
