Condition: Ulcerative colitis
Master UA (male, 13 years old, weight 38kg) has recently been diagnosed with mild left-sided ulcerative colitis. The inflammation was mainly in the rectosigmoid region. It is the first presentation of the disease and treatment is active (started 1 week ago), aiming to achieve remission.

Family history: None related to IBD
Current medication: Asacol® (mesalazine) foam enema 1g daily for 4 weeks Allergies: None
Social/Lifestyle: Attends local secondary school. Lives with parents and 2 younger brothers. He enjoys sports, especially swimming and judo. He has a residential school trip in 2 months and is worried his new condition could affect that. His parents are worried about impact of the disease on growth in puberty.
