Explain-basic concepts of alcohol anonymous

Discussion:

The Basic of Alcohol Anonymous is a 12 steps recovery program specifically established to help individuals that are term as an alcoholic. The primary goal of this program is to assist people suffering from alcohol abuse and addiction. The program has a set of rules that participants have to follow and the rules are referred to as the recovery steps to achieve and maintain abstinence from alcohol. Many of these alcoholic use a sponsor to help them through the process. The program has a spiritual approach that includes a belief in a higher power. Members can define the upper power in their way. The AA meetings are held in public places such as churches and schools, and some meetings are open to everyone, why others are open to only alcoholics. According to the American Addiction Centers (2017), the success rate of this program or organization has not been established because of the unavailable data. Members of the program tend to remind anonymous making it difficult to partake in research studies. Random studies can also be impossible because of the rules of the program because many want the participants to remain anonymous. I am not sure if this program is successful or not because there are not many Evidence Based studies to compare the outcomes of the participant. Data are not available to compare the success rate and the relapse rate.
