A clear distinction between market-based in USA and UK and bank-based systems as in Germany, Japan and France define by several peculiarities make the picture more complex it:
a. The USA, not like the UK and the other European countries, did not expand a nationwide banking system along with little banks.
b. In Germany and in France, financial markets for company shares didn’t develop till recent years. In its place banks have had a main role in giving funds to firms.
c. In Germany the ties among banks and firms are strong and intimate, but in France the banking relations growth in a less successful way.
d. Into Japan the government played a significant role in the growth of the banking system, while in Germany the Hausbank system developed without any government intervention.
