Explain a review and analysis of the Key provisions of the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards and NEA Code of Ethics
Every profession has a code of conduct that its members are expected to follow. Members of a profession who do not adhere to the code of conduct can expect repercussions. Lawyers can be disbarred, medical doctors can lose their licenses, and teachers can have their teaching certificates revoked or suspended.
While there are similarities between states and schools/districts, there may also be distinct differences. Because of the possibility of severe consequences, it is imperative that those entering the teaching profession become familiar with the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of the state, district, or school where they work. Once in the field, it would be wise to regularly review the conduct expectations to keep them fresh in mind.
