Problem:
Michelle is, thankfully, released on her own recognizance. The angry prosecutor offers Michelle a plea bargain, promising that she has evidence that can put Michelle away for life if she goes to trial. Michelle calls again to ask for your advice. You tell Michelle that she has a very good lawyer and that the prosecution is most likely bluffing to avoid the expense of a trial. Believe Michelle is innocent and tell her she should trust in the justice system for a just outcome. You tell Michelle that her lawyer's accusation of racial bias has greatly angered the prosecutor, and he seems especially motivated to pursue a guilty verdict. You remind her that to defend herself will be a long and expensive process with no guaranteed outcome. You suggest she take the plea bargain.
