Assignment:
Klein, Wirth, and Linas (2004) recognized six ways to support play in preschool classrooms:
• Focus on the process (rather than the goal of play).
• Elaborate and build on children's play or interests.
• Reflect the emotions children express in their play and actions.
• Define the problem. Help children think about alternatives.
• Provide varied materials to encourage exploration and play.
• Provide open-ended materials for play (pp. 30-31).
Have you seen examples of these during your visits to preschool classrooms? Give examples.
