Examines long-term care options for rural seniors

Assignment Task:

Policy Analysis

You are a health policy analyst for the Rural Health Group at the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Your organization has long lobbied for expanded health care and long-term care (LTC) benefits. Your group believes it is time for a new analysis of policy options to meet the health care and/or long-term care needs of older adult Americans living in rural environments.

Using the framework covered in Chapter 14, make policy analysis that examines long-term care options for rural seniors. The analysis should have all five sections including problem statement, background, landscape, options, and recommendation.

As a seasoned policy analyst, you know of a few sources that are good starting points for your task. For this assignment in particular, you go to the National Conference of State Legislatures resources on "Population Groups" where you explore "older adult" and "rural health" resources. You should explore the Kaiser Family Foundation website for additional resources on "older adult" and "rural health". You also are familiar with the wealth of Illinois-specific health information available in the IPLAN site or state-specific health information for other states.

Because your supervisor wants this analysis to form the basis of a longer position paper, you want to make this policy analysis as easy to read as possible. Use bulleted lists and tables as needed to clarify your presentation (particularly in the landscape and options sections). Citations should be in APA 7th edition style.
