1. An important purpose of assignment is to examine what the different branches and layers of government do to address a policy using a current issue to illustrate it.
Complete a research essay on the government and healthcare. Remember this is being written for the president to read. OVERVIEW: You are a White House Staff Member working for a newly inaugurated President. The President is preparing the first "State of the Union" address to Congress, which will outline the president's vision for addressing current issues facing the United States. You will research issues to create the President's address. The president is not a dictator. The proposals must consider the Constitution, relevant court rulings, and public opinion.
The U.S. healthcare system has been a controversial topic for decades. Here are the aspects and questions to address for this essay:
1. Identify a current issue being debated about the American healthcare system.
2. Explain two competing solutions to this problem.
3. Evaluate which one is preferable.
4. Address the responsibilities of each level of government, which are federal, state, and local. (Most of the essay will be about the federal government).
5. Address the responsibilities of each of the three branches of the federal government.

500 word minimum and 600 word maximum length, not including references listed at the end

Inclusion of facts from a recent news article about the topic/solution.

1) Write concisely! More is not necessarily better if the required points from the rubric are missed. A 500-word essay can earn an "A," while a 700 word essay may lose points for going too long.
2) Essays should be written in the third person perspective. (Avoid using "I, me, my, mine, we, us, our, you, your").

3. Concerts Across Time
Choose two excerpts of a concert, one of a pop or rock concert from modern times and one of a performance of Baroque music. (This performance would by necessity be a performance of Baroque music performed in modern times.) Each excerpt should be approximately 10 minutes in length.
After viewing the concert excerpts, construct a comparison of these two concerts. Did you enjoy the concerts? If so, why? If not, why not? How does the music differ between the Baroque era and now? How is the music similar? How does the role of concerts differ between the Baroque era and now? What types of people attended concerts in the Baroque Era? Who attends concerts now? Why do people attend concerts? How do new technologies, such as digital media and the internet, change the ways we experience music?
This paper should be 750-1000 words in length. This paper should be written in paragraph form using complete sentences with a clear introduction and conclusion. In addition to these elements, please be sure to fulfill the Requirements for Writing Assignments (below), including citing all sources (including the concerts) both in the body of the text and in a reference page.
4. Unethical Treatment of Research Study Participant
The Willowbrook Study is not the only research study that raised concerns about the ethical treatment of study participants. In fact, there were others many others including the Tuskegee Syphilis Study. Choose one of these three studies and summarize in one paragraph. Why was this experiment unethical? Discuss the ethical issues that were raised because of the study.
