Assignment task: James has asked you (the operations management consultant) to examine the current layout of the food truck and its operational efficiency.

1. What are your recommendations for rearranging the layout for Roxy's to become a more efficient business operation? (Note: Layout changes must be visualised in your presentation).

2. Using the information given in the case study, calculate and explain: What is the throughput time? What is the current throughput rate per minute and per hour assuming that each sandwich is made to order? What is the maximum or total capacity of the food truck operation? Who is the bottleneck, if any? Add two more employees and rearrange the food truck operation by shifting tasks between the employees in order to relieve the bottleneck and achieve the highest possible total capacity. Re-calculate the throughput rate again per hour and in minutes. Determine how including the additional two employees influences job design at Roxy's operation. (Note: Excel spreadsheet computations for A-B must be visualised in your presentation).

3. Explain how a lean synchronisation approach can contribute towards Roxy's strategic business model.

4. What strategic option/s would you recommend James to take to sustain Roxy's for the future?
