Problem:
Control theory deals with behaviour of dynamical systems. Traditionally mechanical and electro-mechanical solutions were employed to control a system, but to diminish cost and implement more complex functionality; computers in the form of embedded systems were introduced as controllers.
a) Consider an automobile's cruise control, which is device designed to sustain a constant vehicle speed.
i. Illustrate out how the notion of control theory can be applied in above case, based upon open-loop control system.
ii. Illustrate out how the system can be monitored with close-loop control system.
iii. Which one will be more proper: a closed-loop or open-loop control system?
b) Make a distinction between time-triggered execution model and event-triggered execution model.
c) Outline how the following control systems operate.
i. Polling system
ii. Interrupt based system
iii. Process-based system
