I. The opening case, "The Grocery Store of the Future: Look at Kroger", discusses how Kroger is using management information systems to gain a competitive advantage by reducing costs and enhancing the customer experience. Consider how Kroger has used management information systems, and research to find other successful businesses that are utilizing management information systems. Discuss the functions of the businesses and how these businesses are utilizing management information systems. What types of competitive advantages are the businesses gaining by using management information systems?
II. We learn about information technology terminology, its definition and its functions within a business. Discuss information technology components, functions, and how to evaluate hardware and software requirements for information systems. Why is it important to correctly evaluate hardware and software requirements for information systems? Are there any components of information technology that are more important than other components? Why or why not?
III. We continue to learn about information technology through various systems for different groups in the organization. Discuss how the different groups of the organization utilize information technology and the systems they utilize. Include the use of enterprise systems, supply chain management systems, and customer relationship management systems and how these systems benefit businesses in your discussion. Decide which type of system you think is most beneficial to the organization and why.
