Essay stating the pros and cons of trends in nursing

Assignment task: Respond to this essay stating the pros and cons of trends in nursing.

While enrolled in this course each objective was different and required research along with the knowledge of putting things in logical order for a better understanding. Each objective was met with thorough research which was concluded with a weekly paper. I personally enjoyed looking things up and writing papers each week, because nothing was the same. The only similarity was using 7th edition APA style of writing. Each paper was developed APA style, which will help me in the future for the next classes. The book is still very valuable to each paper as a reference. Although most students work is not formally published, by writing papers students engage in critical thinking, thoughtful self-reflection, and scientific inquiry and thereby prepare to make unique contributions to the repository of knowledge (Association, 2020). The material in this course increased my perspective of things. It also showed that the things that everyday nurses have to face was common with every nurse and it affected them as well. The objective that required the research of the different nurse associations, was very eye opening, areas of nursing was explored that I did not know existed. There was another objective that I favored, it was dealing with burnout and role strain. I always wondered how the male nurse felt when getting asked all night for assistance with patients. This class was actually about nurse issues and trends. Each shift that I worked I applied the knowledge gained from my papers and research. With all the different events going on in the world, the nurse has to be prepared to advocate and protect their patients, it could be from abuse, human trafficking, bullying on the job, and an active shooter. Nurses have to remain professional and aware of their surroundings at all times during the shift. Nurses face challenges daily and the profession alone is not for the weak. Nurses working around the clock to attend to all the patients the hospital assigns to them suffer from physical exhaustion (Lowrie, n.d.). The shortage still looms without a solution. That will forever be a nursing issue, even with so many great ideas. Currently there is a large hospital in the downtown Atlanta area that is also a Level 1 trauma hospital is scheduled for closing November 1st. That was a major blow to the staff there and the community. That will leave just one trauma hospital in that area with all the crime and accidents going on. As a seasoned nurse I am fearful of the coming winter season.
