for THIS PROFESSOR PREVIOUS TERM I GOT "F", I NEED YOU TO BE VERY CAREFUL AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTION.
I have had a small pile of emails containing CCA-related questions. Thus, I wish to answer them all using a single posting. With a little luck, this will clarify stuff for nearly everyone in the class. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
Question 1: Do I submit three essays or all three as a single document?
Submit each essay as a separate submission because the rubric is applied independently to each essay. If you cannot, please tell me beforehand, so I am aware of how you want to submit your work.
Question 2: Egads! I cannot do this while in my class! Can I do this next term?
Yes, the email had the word egads. If you start working on the CCA and think there is no possible way to keep your sanity while working on it this term, please talk to your adviser. Usually, we can work out something that will work. However, no matter the arrangement, you have to work on the CCA someday.
Question 3: I am in the GRC and the CCA, at the same time! Help!
Ok… I get this one a lot. Your priority is your GRC class, duh. Think about it. The thesis or dissertation is the most important achievement in your MBA or DBA quest. Thus, it must be the top priority. If you think you are going to have problems while enrolled in the GRC and CCA, please talk to your adviser and we’ll figure something out.
Question 4: What is the multiple choice (MC) test all about?
The MC test attempts to test a cross-section of your educational experiences at CALUNIVERSITY. The upside is that it’s only 10% of your grade. Give it a good try and see what you can recall! Also, no one has ever failed the CCA for a failed MC. (I will not let that happen.) So, give the MC a whirl and do your best! Also, I am always asked: What’s the average score? Well, believe it or not, it is in the mid-60s!
Question 5: I have an issue with ProctorU, help?
ProctorU reports the exam should be available starting May 19th. If you have questions, feel free to ask.
Question 6: When is everything due?
All three essays and the MC are due by the end of the six-week term—just like a normal class.
Question 7: Can I submit an essay after the end of the term?
Simple answer: No. It is a university policy.
Question 8: How many pages should an essay be?
Check the forum for information—there’s a hint there for you!
Question 9: Do you scan the essays at Turn It In (TII)?
Yup, you bet I do! Make sure your writing is your words! Paraphrase rather than quoting! If you are wondering about using sources, be sure to read about avoiding plagiarism and integrating sources located in the left-hand nav bar at https://isites.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do?keyword=k70847&tabgroupid=icb.tabgroup106849
Question 10: Are cites required?
No. You can add them in if you like. However, the reference page is required.
Question 11: Which formats can I use to submit?
I am happy to process papers written in Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX), OpenOffice/LibreOffice (ODT, usually), RTF, WordPerfect, and even KingsSoft Writer. PDF submissions are not allowed.
Question 12: How do I write the introductory paragraph?
You should take a look at https://www.deltacollege.edu/emp/pwall/documents/TypesofIntroductions.pdf and choose the strategy you think best fits your essay. All the strategies require the thesis statement appear at the end of the introductory paragraph.
Question 13: How do I shape a paragraph?
Hint: Take a look at https://www.indiana.edu/~wts/pamphlets/paragraphs.shtml and take notice how the topic sentence of a paragraph relates to the thesis statement.
If there are any other question, please ask! Also, do not forget to spellcheck!
Truly,
Steve
