Problem: Make and objection towards this, America has one of the smallest percentages of the world's population, however, it also holds the title for having the largest percentage of its population behind bars in the world. One could argue that there is a political solution to ensure that American citizens' rights are not being stifled to procure such a high incarceration rate unlawfully and to protect its citizens' rights while they are in state/federal custody. Politically laws to control, and ban drugs were invented in the 1800s. Since 2023, over 24 US states have legalized varying levels of personal recreational drug use. With that said the majority of inmates held within our prison system are charged with recreational drug use, and or possession. Politically there needs to immediate release for its citizens whose crime is now considered legal and potential charges applied to those within the prison system that abused and or raped American citizens while incarcerated.
