Created Law.
Privacy is one of the most important issues in businesses and in cyberspace. Many businesses aren't doing their best job to help protect the personal information of their employees To this day, there are only a few laws that are protecting certain types of private information from employees in businesses, but there aren't any laws that help inform these employees on how their private information is being used. One of the most important laws that passed for cyber safety is the Electronic Communications Privacy Act. This law made it so that it is illegal to intercept communications when unauthorized to view or listen. While this is a big step in providing privacy, there are still other measures that should be put into place. There are no laws that require businesses to inform employees what data is being monitored and if that data is being stored or shared. This personal information can be data that is monitored from emails, computers, and telephones.
There should be a law that states that businesses must inform all employees of the types of data they monitor and if the data is stored or shared in any way. If the employee acknowledges the monitored data and gives consent, then the employee now understands exactly what the business is looking at and accepts that the data could be saved and shared. I believe this is important because it makes the employee aware of what is being monitored. This is needed because many businesses today don't share this type of information to their employees because it isn't legally required. Since these businesses don't inform their employees, the employees don't know that the information they are inputting on their work computers or emails could be saved and shared.
In conclusion, to further help protect the personal information of employees, businesses should be required to share what data is being monitored, stored, or shared at all times, so that the employee is careful about what personal information they input or share on company devices, emails and phones.
