Education in the News ( up to10 points):
Read, listen to, or view two “segments” (reports, articles, etc.) that discusses education policy. The segments can come from the newspaper, online magazine, radio broadcast, television, online podcast, etc.
1. Cite the title, writer/author and where it was available
a. Newspaper: Washington Post
b. Online (podcast): www.americanradioworks.org, www.cato-unbound.org
c. Televised: Newshour/PBS, Bloomberg TV.
2. Write a brief (a few sentences) description of what the piece is about.
a. Identify the general topic area
b. Identify theme; what “they” are talking/writing about (the topic).
3. Briefly state what you thought of the piece.
a. What did you learn?
b. Were you familiar with the topic?
c. Was it worth your time?
d. Has it changed the way you think on the topic?
