- Mother should be taught and encourged for the following:
- Continue breast feeding the child as long as possible.
- Avoid using feeding bottles and encourage the use of katori and spoon.
- Maintain good food hygiene.
- Give adequate diet to the child to improve health status and give nutrition education to mothers.
- Use clean potable water free of any dirt and dispose off the refuse and excreta properly.
- Avoid food stuffs exposed to dust and files.
- Store water in clean place in clean covered container and never dip hand into water pot.
- Wash fruits and vegetables before consuming and try to eat freshly cooked food.
- Wash hands and nails thoroughly before cooking and feeding the baby and after going to toilet.
- Never use open space for passing stools. Pass stools in toilet if toilet is not possible then pass in the field and cover it in the mud.
