During the vietnam war the press was given almost

During the Vietnam War the press was given almost unfettered access to the war, broadcasting events, such as the Tet Offensive, almost as they happened. Viewed as detrimental to public support subsequent conflicts, such as in Iraq and Afghanistan, have seen the military greatly limit journalists access to the fighting. Is this justified even when secrecy is not a necessity? Or in a free society, do the people have the right to view events in their raw reality?
