During the test run of prototype machine we found out a few issue occurred due to blasting room design problem. The blasting room design is too quartet, this design had cause the blast abrasive bounce back and hit on the blade product. This had result a lot of damage on blade cutting edge. Figure below shown clearly on the sand blast flows are all bounce back and hit on the blue block (blade rod). This was incident was out of our consideration scope.
The prototype's blasting room needed to do modification to divert the sand blast force to another direction instead of bouncing back to product. We had come out an idea to fabricate a curve plate to fix on blasted wall. We are trying to diverting the blast force direction to the side where no part is placed.
New fabricated plate with a V shape design are try to divert all the blast force into another direction which will not bounce back to the product. This prototype blasting machine will blast the same blade rod for twice. Reason is to double make sure there is no burrs are able to remain at the blade tips. Previous experiment we were using single blast nozzle, but here we are increased the quantity of nozzle to 2. Reason is that we found out this additional nozzle helped to reduce manufacturing takt time and able to produce the expected quality.
