During our last class you will be asked to present an article from the business press that directly relates to any of the topics covered in class. You need to a) distribute a copy of the article to your classmates and myself, b) submit a copy of your presentation to me.
You need to explain how the article you chose relates to a specific topic we have covered in this course. A great presentation is one that integrates lecture notes with the Harvard articles as well as the business article of your choice. The grading rubric can be found on page 10 of the syllabus.
An average presentation length is around 8 slides. Good topics of discussion are: M&As, alliances, divestitures, diversification decisions, changes in business strategy. A great presentation doesn't just describe what the article says, but also takes a position (meaning: do you agree with the company's strategy based on what we have learned. e.g. did the acquisition make sense, does a specific diversification decision take the company too far off the core etc?). Also, it is very important that you integrate the lecture notes and Harvard articles that we have covered.
