Assignment Title: Your Insurance Company
Purpose: To identify the common functional areas of an insurance company, and describe the purpose, functions, and presumed skill sets required for each.
Description:
Part 1: Dream up your own insurance company (give it a creative name using your imagination) and create a top-level organization chart for your company. Put yourself in the top "CEO" box of the organizational chart, and then create a structure of vice presidents underneath you so that each functional area of your insurance company is represented.
Part 2: For each vice president position you have identified, you need to write a one paragraph "job posting" for the position. The job postings should include the following:
- Job title
- The purpose that is fulfilled by the area that this job will oversee
- The day-to-day functions for which this job will be responsible
- The skill set, degree/major, and professional certifications that the ideal candidate should possess.
Part 3: Find one or two organizational charts for real insurance companies online and compare them to yours. Write a brief (2-3 paragraphs) summary that describes where the top levels of your organizational chart differs from that of the real insurance company.
