Problem:
Pocket mouse populations may have the dominant Mcr1 allele that causes low reflectance and dark hair/fur color (reduces visibility to predators on dark lava) or the recessive allele that causes high reflectance and light hair/fur color (reduces visibility to predators in sandy areas). Draw a graph of the predicted change in dominant Mcr1 dark allele frequency vs time (and equilibrium points) for a population of mice that colonize a new lava flow that has created new pocket mouse habitat on lava rock in the middle of a large sandy area. Now draw a graph for the dominant Mcr1 dark allele frequency vs time in a population of mice that had evolved on a lava flow, but now have wind-blown sand covering all of the lava for hundreds of generations.
