Problem: The Flower
• Draw the hermaphrodite flower of papaya and label the different parts, particularly the stamen and pistil. Compare the fertile parts of this flower with the fertile parts of its unisexual.
• The highly modified calyx which consists of a ring of bristles is called the pappus. Draw a disk flower with a dissected corolla tube to show the arrangement of the stamens around the style. The anthers of the stamen are united but the filaments are free. Draw the pistil and determine if the ovary is superior or inferior.
