A 2L full bottle of benzene is left open (with a known density of 0.9 g/mL) in a small room (50m^3) and left over night. When a grad student comes in to open the lab she smells a powerful oder and notices that the bottle of benzene is now empty.
a) With no ventilation at a constant temp of 20 degrees celcius calculate teh mole fraction of benzene in the air of the room to which she was exposed.
b) Now assume that the room is ventilated at a rate of 5 m^3hr^-1. Draw a diagram of the room with all of the important parameters noted with symboles. Write a material balance to describe the rate of change in the amount of benzene in the air of the room starting from the time the bottle was opened onwards. You do not need to solve this equation. What additional data would be needed to solve it?
