Overview
Given a real-world scenario, you will be required to create a network map of equipment locations.
You should provide an equipment list for all necessary components, and an electronically drawn diagram that maps equipment placement for each floor of the office. Use a drawing program such as Visio or Draw.io to create the diagram; photos are not accepted. Specific instructions for this assignment are found in the Assignments section of the appropriate module in Content.
Instructions
Imagine you are a network engineer who has been hired to design a network for a small company consisting of a headquarters office in Indianapolis, Indiana, and a branch office in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The company has hired you to design and build the network infrastructure from the ground up. Following is a brief summary of the business structure:
Indianapolis, IN
This office is the headquarters for the company. It has 61 employees divided across the following three departments:
a) Administration: 19
b) Research and Development: 25
c) Accounting: 17
Minneapolis, MN
This branch office has 34 employees in the following three departments:
a) Administration: 9
b) Research and Development: 12
c) Advertising: 13
The offices are identical in physical size. Each is a 100-feet-by-100-feet, three-floor office building. Each building will need to be cabled, racks installed, etc.
• Draw a diagram of the Indianapolis and Minneapolis offices using Draw.io, Visio or any electronic drawing software (no photos, please). Include locations of equipment for employees. Do not forget a location for the wiring hardware and the equipment needed in the hardware closet. Also, make sure your drawing includes the connectivity between the two locations.
• Create an equipment list of all of the hardware needed to wire these offices.
