Dr. Peter Drucker has stated: "You cannot motivate employees; employees must motivate themselves." What does Dr. Drucker mean by this statement in regard to motivational theory? At the heart of this statement is all about can managers motivate their employees. Some would argue that since motivation is “an inner drive that causes action, that managers cannot motivate their subordinates.” Others argue that managers can motivate their subordinates that is part of a manager’s job.
