Problem 1: Does UBI work, in any possible way, with our social contract? Notice that you will need to explain and defend your understanding of the American social contract. If it can work in some ways with our social contract (perhaps one of the two theories are ok within our social contract, or both, or some other application not being popularly argued) then explain how it would do so.
Problem 2: Is UBI - whether you like it or not - the best solution for either future automation-related unemployment or social programs? If not, what are better alternatives?
Problem 3: I want you to focus on an ethical issue in your work field (Criminal justice, Health Care, IT, or Business). Define the issue and evaluate the effect that adoption of UBI might have on that issue if it were to become law. Some suggested issues might be poverty and crime, universal health care vs private health insurance, the impact of automation (notice that many high-end tech people are supporting this idea!), or corporate responsibility. But feel free to choose topics that you find more interesting if you wish.
