Assignment
Using the data collected by your peers, preform all appropriate statistical analyses (graphical, numerical summaries, tests, Confidence Intervals, etc.) to test the following:
1. Is a MAT115 student's GPA affected by the number of days a week they get less than 5 hours of sleep?
2. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' American Time Use Survey, college students spend 3.3 hours a day engaged in educational activities. Is the number of hours MAT115 students spend a day engaged in educational activities greater than 3.3?
3. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' American Time Use Survey, college students spend 0.8 hours a day grooming. Does the number of hours MAT115 students spend a day grooming differ from 0.8? Assume o=0.5.
4. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 45% of people get their driver's license before they turn 18. Is the percentage of MAT115 students who got their driver's license before they turned 18 greater than 45%?
5. Does the number of hours a dayDA students spend watching Netflix differ from the number of hours a day DB students spend watching Netflix?
The project will be graded based on the following:
1. Assumptions - Ability to make and evaluate important assumptions in data analysis
2. Representation - Ability to convert relevant information into various formats (e.g., diagrams, tables, words, equations, graphs)
3. Calculations
Note: No work associated with any mathematical computations should be included in the write up for any question.
4. Interpretation - Ability to explain quantitative information presented in various formats (e.g., diagrams, tables, words, equations, graphs)
5. Application / Analysis - Ability to make judgments and draw appropriate conclusions based on the quantitative analysis of data, while recognizing the limits of this analysis
6. Communication - Expressing quantitative evidence in support of the argument or purpose of the work (in terms of what evidence is used and how it is formatted, presented, and contextualized).
