Problem
Who is braver: Someone who is scared but performs bravely despite her fear, or someone who is not scared and performs bravely? Is one of these people more virtuous than the other? Say you have two people who are virtuously brave to the exact same degree. One, however, is naturally brave to just the right amount, and the other is someone who worked hard to become habituated to bravery. Does the hard work of getting to this degree of bravery count for anything? Is one of these people more virtuous than the other?
