Part 2
1. Go to "seer cancer gov"locate the definition of Cancer Incidence Rate. Record the definition in the space below to ensure a clear understanding is established for this portion of the Lab.
Make sureyou include the calculation line (Incidence Rate =) and add a citation for this information.
2. Use your table from Part 1 to answer the following questions:
a. How many lung and bronchus cases were diagnosed in total, for these three states?
b. Explain WHY it is possible for us to have access to the total numbers of cancer cases by state, as contained in the website used in Part 1.
c. Of the 3 states listed (AL, IL, NV), which had the most lung and bronchus cases diagnosed?
d. Of the 3 states listed, which had the highest lung and bronchus Incidence Rate?
e. Using your understanding of "incidence rate" from the Using a Database for Business Decision Making assignment, explain why the state with MOST lung and bronchus cancer cases is NOT the same as the state with the HIGHEST lung and bronchus incident rate.
f. Of the 3 states listed, which had the highest tax rate per pack on cigarettes?
g. Of the 3 states listed, which had the lowest tax rate per pack on cigarettes?
Part 3
Consider the data in your table regarding lung cancer cases and the taxes for cigarettes, then address the following in the space below:
a. Does it appear that Alabama's tax level for cigarettes is an advisable rate for the future health of its citizens, given the state's level of cancer cases?Compared with Illinois and Nevada, do you think that Alabama should continue the level of cigarette taxes as they are now, or lower or raise them? Use corresponding state statistics to respond and support your response on why they should raise or lower the taxes.
b. Conduct research in the Rasmussen Library or using government websites or national associations' websites (such as the American Lung Association)to demonstrate a connection between smoking and cancer. Write at least one(1) paragraph on this topic. Be sure to use a citation.
c. Formulate a Statement of a few sentences, that Fiona Benning can present at the annual convention of the ALAA as part of a statewide initiative to reduce smoking. Remember that Ms. Benning is a member of the board of the American Lung Association of Alabama.
