Problem: When I think about research on counseling and medications that prevent future crimes, I think of quality improvement in healthcare. By performing a detailed investigation into how and why the crimes occurred, it may allow for system changes that prevent these crimes in the future. It may be possible to identify triggers, or individuals at risk for committing crimes, as well as effective strategies to deter criminals once motivations or system issues are analyzed. This would be expensive and require police and healthcare coordination. Do you think this investment is worth the cost?
