"In most cases trait theory is considered to be part of person's personality from birth. This is the best theory that explains how leadership works because leaders begins to display their leadership characteristic right from their young age, they display these characteristics during primary or secondary school, others they even display leadership trait at their home place such as eagerness to show forgiveness, willing to help others, genuine caring and taking personal responsibility without being forced to (Van Vugt, 2008)."
- Do you think the nature-versus-nurture theory has any relevance with regard to Van Vugt's statement? Also, if trait theory is, indeed, the prevalent factor in leader development, is it still possible for individuals without these innate skills, traits, and characteristics to develop them - and be equally successful?
- What are your thoughts?
