Some employers must provide unpaid leave for family- and medical-related reasons under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Paid leave is not required by federal law; however, it is required by some state and local laws.
Do you think paid family leave legislation should be passed at a federal level, or should it be left to the state and local governments to regulate? If so, how much leave should be required to be paid, and why, and for what family-related purposes? Explain your rationale.
