Problem
Recent studies indicate that children of depressed parents are more likely to experience depression themselves than children with non-depressed parents. Do you think this is because of genetic or environmental factors? What other factors could there be? If it is true that children with depressed parents are more likely to be depressed, what preventative actions, if any, do you feel should be taken? For an article on this issue, see Wagner, K. D. (2002). Children of Depressed Parents. Psychiatric Times.
