Problem
Volcanoes are scary, and yet they are a fact of the geologic processes of Earth. In some ways their eruptions are unpredictable, and in others, very predictable. Shouldn't people in the danger zones just move somewhere safe? What if you found out that the area where you live may have a volcanic eruption within the next 500 years. What would you do? Why would you make that choice?
Worldwide there are over 1400 earthquakes with a magnitude of over 5 every year. In 2015, an estimated 9,600 people died because of earthquakes. Do you think an earthquake is the world's scariest natural disaster? If not, what is? Why do you think people live in areas that have lots of earthquakes?
