Healthcare organizations, just like any other business, have to look at how to manage their finances and business as well as make good strategic decisions for the long term life of the company. That is why it is so important to have a data warehouse that allows you to make operational and strategic decision based on facts and what the data tells you.
• Class, the term "Big Data" is being used a great deal now. How is it different than a data warehouse? Is it?
• As part of the budget there is staffing and staffing mix! Some organizations will use a severity (some call it acuity) application to help them with their predictive analysis and how many staff need to be on a given shift. Class, do you see these tying in with this week's discussion? If so, how? Do you see these more as a clinical or departmental application?
