Post 1: Do you find the historical arguments given by Jeffery Arnett in support of emerging adulthood convincing? Why or why not? Secondly, do you think that are other more recent cultural changes, value shifts, or other macro level changes that have helped create the possibility for emerging adulthood?
Post 2: We hear two very different perspectives about the main developmental task for the newly proposed psychosocial phase of emerging adulthood from our two speakers, Dr. Arnett & Dr. Jay. The first states that the 20's is a crucial time for exploration while the latter stresses it as a time of urgency. First, Describe which of these views aligns with your own view on early adulthood development. Secondly, do you think that emerging adulthood will be a consistent phenomenon over the next several generations? Why or why not?
