Together with your earlier reading, "Hitler: 'master in the Third Reich' or 'weak dictator'?," consider the various arguments set forth in Ian Kershaw's historiographical essay "Hitler and the Holocaust." Do you think the decision to exterminate European Jews was the result of a long-term plan, dictated by Hitler and his ideological obsessions, or was the "Final Solution" the result of an unplanned "dynamic radicalization" of anti-Jewish policy? Do you consider yourself an "intentionalist" or a "functionalist-structuralist"? Or are you perhaps a "synthesist"? Furthermore, if you accept that the decision to kill all European Jews came at some point between June-December 1941, when do you think it came?
