Assignment task: Please give feedback on: Do you think children have more stresses today than a generation ago? If so, why, if not, why not? What are some of the primary stresses in children's lives now vs. in the past?

I do believe that children do have more stressor now days than back in my generation. When we were children growing up, we were allowed to just be kids and play outside without fearing what people fear today. Stress is a state of mental or emotional tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. With school pressure, social media and jam-packed schedules kids are more stressed out than ever before. Stress is a normal part of life, and at some point, in our lives everyone experiences it to some degree. Stress is a big part, but being rejected, teased and bullied is also harm to a child's wellbeing. Severe and prolonged stress is early in life such as maltreatment or abuse can have impact not only at that point but also well into adulthood because of its impact on brain development. Sources of stress in children can also include low self-esteem, lack of confidence, and peer acceptance. Children have a hard time to communicate what may be bothering them or recognize the source of stress. Anxiety/stress is the leading Mental Health issue among our youth today. The latest study was published in April, based on the data of children's health ages 6 to 17, researchers found a 20 percent increase in diagnosis of anxiety between 2007 and 2012.
