Gary Crew is a widely known author of children's literature. He was born in Brisbane, Queensland where his particular interests in English and Art were nurtured. Due to ill health he read widely, establishing his passion for literature. After attending state primary and high schools in Brisbane, his other childhood interest of drawing developed where he trained at QUT and worked as a design draughtsman for ten years. He became an art teacher and this is where his writing began; his first audience being a Manual Arts class. He has a Masters of Arts in
Literature from the Queensland University and is now editing and lecturing in Creative Writing at QUT and University of the Sunshine Coast.
