Distributed And Client Server Databases
Introduction
This unit tells the distributed database systems which are primarily relational and one important execution model: the client server model. This unit mainly focuses on the basic issues involved in the design of distributed database designs. The unit also talked about some very basic concepts; in respect of client server computing with the basic structure, advantages/drawbacks etc. It will be worth mentioning here that almost all the commercial database management systems follow such a model of execution. Although in client server model one of the main concepts is the concept of distribution but it is primarily distribution of roles on server computers or rather distribution of work. So a client server system may be a centralised database.
